MLE - Solar Panel Output

(This page refreshes automatically every five minutes.)

These charts show the latest published data for the actual solar power output from a small photovoltaic cell on-site at MLE. An electronic control system is measuring the voltage and current and dynamically adjusting the electrical load in real-time to obtain the optimum performance from the panel.

The green spot marks the peak power output achieved when the load is optimally matched to the characteristics of the PV panel. This optimum load point varies with solar insolence, so sophisticated control algorithms are needed to adjust the load dynamically in real-time. This is known as maximum power point tracking, or MPPT.
