Electronics Design Consultants

As part of our overall electronic product development services we can provide engineering support, assessments, feasibility studies, pricing exercises, research & consulting.

Our philosophy gives support at all stages of product development. We will initially produce a project plan with key milestones, during design stages we maintain close dialogue with our customers and provide regular reports on project activities.

The support and services we provide can take many different forms. Typically we take on a particular project as a whole, or alternatively we work alongside the customers existing team.

In terms of scale, we can create a complete unit/module, or work within customers existing specification. Applications have ranged from a single transformer (for use in HF applications) to complex multi-processor networked instruments.

Contracts may be undertaken for a brand new electronic design or, as in many cases, for giving an existing product a new lease of life by upgrading up to latest technology standard, providing increased functionality & lower production costs.

Where our customers are branching out into new technologies, by approaching electronic design consultants such as MLE they can obtain an estimate of costs for alternative strategies. In these cases we can offer advice by way of a feasibility study, to highlight which route might be the most effective. Exploring different approaches at the early stages has led to many novel and unconventional approaches being capitalised on in the subsequent product.  MLE works with all market sectors, including applications in medical electronics, industrial, commercial, audio, security and scientific.

Consulting services are varied but could be circuit board evaluation for product development or in-service capability, through to safety assessment, EMC emissions...

Electronics & software development

Our main technology set is in electronics hardware & software development. We have many years of experience in a wide variety of analogue & digital technologies, including power supply & control, motor drives, instrumentation & control, DSP and communications systems. Software skills include Visual Basic, C and assembler. Embedded systems are commonly used and we are part of the consultants programme for Microchip (PICS) and Texas Instruments (DSP).

Manufacture

In offering a one-stop solution, MLE can provide supported manufacturing and assembly of a customer's product. For small to medium quantities we manufacture in-house, where large scale production runs are required we have formed strategic partnerships with companies and sub-contractors, both in UK and overseas (eastern Europe, Far east/Taiwan/China). Combined with our own skills this enables us to offer development and manufacture services including mechatronics, hybrids and packaging. MLE has in-house PCB prototyping and EMC test equipment to allow fast-track prototype services, CAD/CAM software is used for PCB creation. This allows customers the benefit of a single source for prototype and manufacture.

We have extensive experience in high-reliability and ruggedisation for extreme environments coupled with miniaturisation techniques. MLE is ISO9001 accredited.
