Engineers - it takes all sorts...
It often seems to me that if you lock 4 engineers in a room you’ll get 12 opinions on how to do a design. I think it’s true to say that engineers, as a breed, dislike repetition and their ideal job is one where you get the opportunity to work on Technology A one day and Technology B the week after.
It’s about this point in the plot that Blackadder would come out with some witticism like “Well roll over and paint me green” (only a lot funnier) because that’s exactly what we get here at MLE on a day-to-day basis.
You may have seen of our Case Studies .
One day we might be deep in detailed discussion about sharp-end software adaptive feedback control systems, the next looking at generating and switching 400 Amp DC supplies, and the next miniaturising medicine delivery systems – it’s anything but dull!
Supporting that technology span needs two types of Engineer – Specialists and Generalists – and without blowing our own trumpet too loudly, that’s where we win. We have the ideal mix of talent, creativity, and experience to not only make our designs whizz, but also to make them fun to work on.
If you ever want to put a face to the names in these blogs by the way, take a look at our mug shots.
Postscript – While writing this I’ve realised that there isn’t a collective term for engineers. A couple of possibilities could be a geek of engineers or a tech of engineers?! – but I’m not convinced... if you can think of a suitable term, let us know and we’ll publish the best offerings here!
